While I am currently focused on finishing up my PhD under Dr. Nuno Bandeira at the Center for Computational Mass Spectrometry before I started the PhD program, I graduated from Amherst College with a B.A. Cum Laude in Computer Science and Music in 2013.
After graduating college but before starting my graduate research, I worked as a campaign data engineer at Girl Rising, a project of The Documentary Group, where I developed organizing tools, dynamic maps, story sharing platforms, e-commerce systems, and maintained daily operations of our dynamic web content. I also developed tools under Dr. Stuart Scott to analyze data from targeted bisulfite sequencing technologies to detect and display DNA methylation information.
Before graudating college, I spent one summer I working under Dr. Lou Yongqi at TEKTAO, a design research firm in Shanghai, China, designing systems to encourage urban-rural interactions, especially through the lens of agricultural tourism. Another summer I was an intern for New York-based clean cookstove start up, BioLite where I helped identify market segments by designing, deploying, and analyzing pre-launch surveys from potential customers. I also was an intern at the Vertical Farm project under Dr. Dickson Despommier, I researched lighting and waste systems for large scale indoor agriculture.
